The Black Alumni Chapter is dedicated to maximizing black alumni participation in the affairs of the University, and to promoting personal growth and professional development of members. The goals of the chapter will be to support the recruitment, retention, development, and graduation of black students; to foster an environment for academic success for black students, faculty and staff; to provide an alumni network for black MSU graduates; and, to increase participation of black alumni in the Black Alumni Chapter and in the McNeese Alumni Association.
Any person who has obtained an associates, bachelors, education specialist or masters degree from McNeese State University.
Since 2011, the BAC has been awarding scholarships to local high school seniors and currently has over $100,000 in endowed scholarships thru the McNeese Foundation. The chapter awards four scholarships each year – multiple to incoming freshmen and one to an upperclassman.
Any student interested in applying for the BAC scholarship must first apply to, and be accepted by, McNeese State University. The application for the BAC scholarship is the same as the University’s admissions form. Please indicate that you are interested in scholarships during the online application process and include your honors, awards, and extracurricular activities.
Standard membership dues are $30 for an annual membership. If your spouse is NOT a McNeese graduate but would like to join, they can become a non-voting member for $10/year. The chapter also offers an all-inclusive annual membership for $100 which includes free admission to all paid chapter events. In edition to annual membership, the chapter offers lifetime membership for $500 for those members of 10 years or more of service.
Qualifying students are offered a free, one-year membership upon graduation. These memberships apply to only current year graduates and are valid one-year from the date of graduation.
Each chapter members receives a membership card which entitles them to a 10% discount on merchandise (excluding textbooks) from the McNeese Bookstore.
