Doug Warner

Class of 90'

Doug joined the KNWA Northwest Arkansas news team in July 2024 as the 5 pm, 6 pm, and 10 pm anchor. His award-winning career spans nearly four decades across Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.

Doug is a four-time Reporter of the Year recipient, honored by a host of professional industry organizations including the Louisiana Associated Press, the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters, and the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (Emmy award). In all, Doug has earned 14 Emmy awards with over 40 nominations along with multiple regional and national Edward R. Murrow awards for his reporting. His feature, investigative, and sports reporting has also been honored multiple times by the Associated Press of Texas, the Press Club of Southeast Texas, the Oklahoma Society of Professional Journalists, and the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters.

A native of DeRidder, LA, and a graduate of McNeese State University (Lake Charles, LA), Doug has worked in several news markets including Oklahoma City, OK, Shreveport, and Lake Charles, LA, and Beaumont and Waco, TX. While in Shreveport, his award-winning series, ‘The Good Stuff’, discovered and delivered stories of inspiration. His investigative reporting led to life-saving changes in the state, including the installation of hundreds of miles of cable/median barriers along interstates, statewide, in Louisiana.

Doug also served as a moderator and panelist for multiple televised political debates for Louisiana governor and senate races. And just days after the 2000 Presidential election when the country was left with a ‘hanging chad’ virtual tie, Doug secured the first interview in the country with eventual President George W. Bush while covering the ‘Western White House’ in Crawford, TX.

He credits his time at KWTV in Oklahoma City with becoming an official certified ‘weather nerd’. It’s where his love of storm chasing was launched, including giving chase to the first of many tornadoes during his career. He has also reported live from many major weather events including Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and Harvey.

Personally, Doug is a longtime advocate or board member for many non-profits including the American Cancer Society, Men Wear Pink, Susan G. Komen, Goodwill Industries, Special Olympics, and the Alzheimer’s Association. He was a longtime volunteer with the Bossier (LA) Little League board where he coached his son, Blake, for many years.

Doug and his wife Ashley now call Northwest Arkansas home. Doug is a big baseball fan. Now that Blake has wrapped up his high school playing days and his stepson, Gavin, finished four years of college football, you’ll likely find Doug watching their twin girls, Stella and Presley, scoring goals on the high school soccer pitch.
